Dear Pine View Families,
We hope you are doing well, and wanted to let you know about an upcoming book drive here at Pine View. Many of you may be aware of the longstanding partnership Pine View has with our buddy school, Alta Vista Elementary. In Pine View’s first decades of existence, our campuses were adjacent, and Alta Vista graciously shared their facilities and resources. Pine View was able to use their fields, gym, and cafeteria before we had these facilities of our own. In recent years we have resurrected our partnership through the district program, Up With Books, which brings different elementary schools together over a shared love of literacy. Some of our classes have formed “book buddies” and we have visited Alta Vista and welcomed them to our campus for different activities and celebrations. Soon their 3rd graders will visit us again, and we are collecting used books so they can each go home with a book to read. We know Pine View students are voracious readers, but if anyone is ready to clean out their bookshelves, we wanted to let you know about the titles we are currently collecting. If you have any of the following titles to donate, please feel free to send them into the office between now and February 20th. Diary of a Wimpy Kid series Dog Man series I Survived series Goosebumps series Any graphic novels Who Would Win Series Magic Treehouse Series Flat Stanley Junie B. Jones Rainbow Fairy Series Thank you for your help and support, and have a great week! Read on, Pine View! 😊 Alison Rini

Hello Pine View Elementary Families,
We hope you are doing very well! I wanted to quickly bring your attention to an exciting and time-sensitive opportunity. You have probably heard about the PVA auction that is taking place on Saturday at Selby Gardens. However, I wanted to make sure that everyone knows about some of the items that EVERYONE can take a look at and bid on, whether or not you are able to attend the event. Here is the link for the online silent auction: https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/auctionhome.action?vhost=pineview I wanted to alert you to the items listed for sale, especially A) Class Creations and B) Pine View’s Own. A) Class Creations are beautiful works of art created by different classes that provide long-lasting memories of your child’s elementary school experience at Pine View. The students in different classes worked together to create paintings, collages, and photographs that represent both our students’ uniqueness and our community’s bonds. These works of art are compelling on their own, but coupled with the memories of our amazing students and teachers, they are truly priceless. B) Pine View’s Own is a category of unforgettable experiences, offered by Pine View’s dedicated faculty and staff. There are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to spend a day off campus with your child’s favorite staff member, or special events that could be incorporated into a school day. It is fun for us to get to spend time with students outside of the normal day’s activities, and all funds raised come right back to support our school. If you read through the events with your child, you will see how well our teachers know their students and their interests! Our before- and aftercare partners, the Sarasota YMCA, are also excited to announce a new aftercare club format. You will receive hard copies via backpack, but we wanted to share the info electronically as well for your convenience - see attachments for club topics and registration paperwork. Have a great afternoon! Alison Rini P.S. This and all family newsletters can always be accessed on Pine View’s website.
